I visited Home Theater Seating Online and I couldn’t believe how many projector screens they had.  They have electric screens, permanently tensioned screens, manual screens, portable screens, rear projection screens and paint on screens.  Wow, I can actually paint on a screen.  My kids might enjoy that.

I looked at their help guide to get more information.  There is a lot to know about screens.

Manual Screens:  They are inexpensive, however, you have to pull them down every time you want to watch something.  I remember as a kid in school when the teacher would pull on her screen to roll it up.  Sometimes it would go slowly and other times it would fly up and make the loudest noise.  I don’t want that for my movie screen.  They guide did say they have controlled screen returns, which would be nice.  However, my plan is to keep the screen down all the time.

Electric Screens:  These are more expensive, however, you can control them by a remote sitting on my chair.  I like this idea.  They have to be hard-wired.  That is something my husband should be able to do.  They can be mounted to the ceiling.  It also says tensioned screens are good because the screen will stay flat and not have wrinkles in it.  There are several different cases such as externally mounted cases, ceiling-recessed cases and tab-tensioned screens.  I liked the ceiling-recessed option because it will be hidden in my ceiling.

Portable Screens:  This is not an option as I’m not looking to set this up every time.  It is great, however, to set up in your living room every Friday night for movie night.

Rear Projection:  This is where you place the projector behind the screen and you do need a dark space to do this.  Or you need mirrors that will reflect the image over a far enough distance to correct the image size.  You can use a standard portable, manual or electric screen with rear projection fabric.

Wow, I didn’t know there were so many choices.  I like the electric screens the best.  I think that would suit me best for my needs.

I have seen different home theaters on tv and want to have one of my own.  There are so many different things you can do to fit your style.  I want to try to incorporate our style and build the home theater of my dreams.
